“Vocational level” of English is achieved by passing the IELTS test with a band score of at least five (5) on each of the four (4) components of the IELTS test. “Competent level” of English is achieved by passing the IELTS test with a band score of at least six (6) on each of the four (4) components of the IELTS test.
Is your nominated occupation on the
“Skilled Occupations List (SOL)”

If your nominated occupation is not found on the
“Skilled Occupations List (SOL)”
, then you cannot apply for visa to Australia under the Skilled Category.
Do you have the necessary “recent work experience” or “two (2) years study” in Australia?

To meet the “recent work experience requirement”, you must demonstrate that you have been employed in an occupation on the
“Skilled Occupations List (SOL)”
for 12 of the 24 months immediately before lodging your visa application. To meet the “two (2) years study in Australia requirement”, you must have completed in no less than 16 calendar months either:
- a single qualification requiring at least two (2) academic years study
or
- more than one qualification resulting in a total period of at least two (2) academic years study.

Job Ready Test
A key component of changes to the Skilled Migration Program will be the undertaking a Job Ready test for those applicants for a skilled visa (other than 485,887) if you nominate a trade occupation after 1st January 2010.
